Introduction to Changping District Changping District is a district in the northwestern part of Beijing, China. Here’s an overview of the district: Geography and Location Situated in the northwestern suburbs of Beijing, it borders Yanqing District and Mentougou District to the west, Huairou District and Miyun District to the north, Shunyi District to the east, and Haidian District and Changping District to the south. The business district of Beijing, with many international companies and shopping centers. Chaoyang District, under the jurisdiction of Beijing, is located in the south-central part of Beijing. It borders Shunyi District and Changping District to the north, Tongzhou District to the east, Fengtai District and Daxing District to the south, and Haidian District, Dongcheng District and Xicheng District to the west. It has a total area of 470.8 square kilometers and an average altitude of 34 meters [6]. As of June 2023, Chaoyang District has jurisdiction over 24 sub-districts and 19 townships. [51] As of the end of 2023, Chaoyang District had a permanent population of 3.446 million, an increase of 4,000 from the end of the previous year. [65] Chaoyang District belonged to Jizhou and Youzhou during the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties. During the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, it belonged to Daxing County, Wanping County of Daxing Prefecture, Tongzhou Lu County and Huangyin County of Dadu Road (renamed Zhongdu Road). In May 1958, Dongjiao District was renamed Chaoyang District. [6] Chaoyang District is named after its location outside Chaoyang Gate. Its historical and cultural resources include Dongyue Temple, Sun Altar, Qinghuacheng Pagoda Courtyard, Yuan Dynasty Capital Wall Site (Chaoyang Section), Yongtong Bridge and Pingjin Gate of the Grand Canal (Chaoyang Section of Tonghui River), and the former site of Radio Station 491, which are six national key cultural relics protection sites; there are three municipal cultural relics protection sites, namely, Shifang Zhufo Pagoda, Beiding Niangniang Temple, and Shuncheng Junwang Mansion. [47] Chaoyang District is an important window for Beijing's foreign exchanges. It has a diversified industrial structure dominated by the financial industry, leasing industry and business service industry, supported by high-tech industries, and a cluster of cultural and creative industries. [47] In 2024, Chaoyang District will achieve a gross regional product (GDP) of 923.01 billion yuan, an increase of 5.0% over the previous year at constant prices.
The central area of Beijing, with many historical sites and cultural attractions. Dongcheng District, under the jurisdiction of Beijing, is located in the eastern center of Beijing. It borders Chaoyang District to the east and north, Fengtai District to the south, and Xicheng District to the west. It lies between 116°22′17″-116°26′46″ east longitude and 39°51′26″-39°58′22″ north latitude. The maximum distance from east to west is 5.2 kilometers, the maximum distance from north to south is 13 kilometers, and the total area is 41.84 square kilometers [57] [60]. As of October 2022, Dongcheng District has 17 sub-districts under its jurisdiction [34]. As of the end of 2023, Dongcheng District has a permanent population of 703,000. [46] Dongcheng District is the area with the most cultural relics and historical sites in Beijing. There are 16 national-level cultural relics protection sites in the district, accounting for 37% of Beijing; 60 municipal-level cultural relics protection sites, accounting for 24% of the city; and 57 district-level cultural relics protection sites. Among the famous 16 new Beijing scenes, the "Tian'an Beautiful Sun" and "Forbidden City Sunset", the ancient and mysterious Lama Temple, the Imperial Academy, the highest institution of learning in the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, the "left ancestor and right community" Taimiao and Sheji Altar, the Beijing Ancient Observatory that explores the mysteries of the sky, the bell and drum tower of the Mingjin Leigu Time-telling Platform, the Wen Tianxiang Temple with its righteous spirit, and the Peking University Red Building have long been famous at home and abroad. In addition, there are a number of former residences of celebrities such as Mao Zedong, Mao Dun, Lao She, and Soong Ching Ling. In addition, there are Beijing residential courtyards. [60] In 2024, the GDP of Dongcheng District will increase by about 4.5% year-on-year; the district-level general public budget revenue will reach 19.5 billion yuan; the fixed asset investment will reach 27 billion yuan; the per capita disposable income of residents will increase by about 3% year-on-year; and the energy consumption per unit of GDP will decrease by about 5%. It borders Xicheng District and Chaoyang District to the east, Fengtai District to the south, Shijingshan District and Mentougou District to the west, and Changping District to the north. The area is 430.77 square kilometers. [48] It has 22 sub-districts and 7 districts. [49] As of the end of 2023, the permanent population is 3.125 million. [50] Haidian District is located on the northwest edge of the North China Plain. It is high in the west and low in the east, with both mountainous and plain terrain. The highest altitude is 1,278 meters and the lowest altitude is 35 meters. [54] There are 10 large and small rivers in the area. [48] It has a warm temperate semi-humid continental monsoon climate with distinct four seasons. [51] Since the Qin and Han Dynasties, the southern half of Haidian District has been part of the Beijing City; a small part of the area belonged to the Jin Zhongdu and Yuan Dadu areas during the Jin and Yuan Dynasties; in the Qing Dynasty, most of the area was directly under the jurisdiction of the capital; in 1928, Beijing was established as a city and became an administrative district under the jurisdiction of the city. In July 1949, the 16th District of Beiping City was established in Haidian District. On September 1, 1952, Haidian District was officially named. [53] In January 1963, the current jurisdiction was formed. [52] Haidian District is a nationally renowned science, education and culture district. Zhongguancun is the largest and most innovative high-tech and enterprise gathering place in the country. The headquarters of companies including Baidu, Lenovo, Sina, and NetEase are all located in the district. It has universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Renmin University of China. There are many scenic spots and historical sites, including the Summer Palace, Yuanmingyuan, and Xiangshan. [52] Haidian District is a national model city for supporting the army and the people, [61] a national civilized city district [62], a national ecological civilization demonstration zone [58], a national intellectual property strong city construction demonstration city [60], a national food safety demonstration city [59], a national science popularization demonstration zone [56], and a national cultural relics protection and utilization demonstration zone [57]. In 2023, Haidian District will achieve a regional GDP of 1,102.02 billion yuan. By industry, the primary industry will achieve an added value of 150 million yuan, a decrease of 27.6%; the secondary industry will achieve an added value of 81.09 billion yuan, a decrease of 0.1%; and the tertiary industry will achieve an added value of 1,020.78 billion yuan, an increase of 6.8%. General public budget revenue will be 54.89 billion yuan.

Xicheng District, under the jurisdiction of Beijing, is located in the central area of western Beijing. It is adjacent to Dongcheng District in the east; Haidian District and Chaoyang District in the north; Haidian District and Fengtai District in the west; and Fengtai District in the south. The district is 7.1 kilometers wide from east to west and 11.2 kilometers long from north to south, with a total area of 50.70 square kilometers. As of January 2025, Xicheng District has 15 sub-districts and 263 communities under its jurisdiction [39] [66]. As of the end of 2024, the permanent population of Xicheng District is 1.095 million. [70] Xicheng District is the site of Jicheng, the capital of Yan during the Warring States Period, and was part of the capital during the Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. As the place where Beijing was built for more than 3,000 years and the capital for more than 800 years, it is a fusion area of royal culture and folk culture, and an area where various cultures such as imperial city culture, official culture, folk culture, and religious culture are highly integrated [2]. Xicheng District has many scenic spots, including Yuetan Park, Temple of Successive Emperors, Taoranting Park, Beijing Grand View Garden, Prince Chun Garden, Prince Gong Mansion Garden, etc. In 2024, Xicheng District will achieve a GDP of 603.8 billion yuan, of which the added value of the secondary industry is 30.27 billion yuan and the added value of the tertiary industry is 573.54 billion yuan.
